The British-made ‘Boulton Paul Defiant’ was a single-seat, twin-engine fighter aircraft that was produced in the late 1930s and early 1940s. It was designed to be a night fighter and to combat bombers, but it was not very successful. The Defiant was equipped with a powerful 2,000 horsepower engine and four 0.303-inch machine guns. It was also fitted with a 20mm cannon, which made it a formidable weapon against bombers. However, the Defiant was very vulnerable to enemy fighters, and it was quickly outclassed by the more modern fighters that were being introduced by the Luftwaffe. The Defiant was eventually withdrawn from service and was replaced by other aircraft such as the Hawker Hurricane and the Supermarine Spitfire.
