Abu Qir, Battle of

A naval battle fought off the coast of Abu Qir, Egypt, on August 1st, 1798, between the British Royal Navy and the French fleet. Though not directly part of World War II, the battle had historical significance as it led to the capture of Napoleon’s fleet.
